Chloë Holt RCA FRSA - “Gaudium Vitae - Joy Of Life”

Original painting by Chloë Holt RCA FRSA. One of the youngest artists ever to be elected a member of the RCA. Winner of the 2012 Kyffin Williams Drawing Prize, Chloe also, in 2010 won the International Lorenzo il Magnifico prize by the Florence Biennale for works on paper.

“I came across a sunflower field in a most unexpected place, on an unexpected day of escape from what had become the norm. The sunflower field epitomised life at every stage. Indeed, the species name annus referes to the plant's annual life cycle. 'Gaudium Vitae' translates from latin as 'the joy of life'. I wanted the paintings to be explosions of light, shape and colour. Like fireworks - celebrating - or deep space star constellations - places of creation.”

80.5 w x 106 h cm (Framed 123 w x 146.5 h cm) Oil, mixed media and gesso on board in dramatic 18th Century Italian gilded antique frame with perfect patination
