A splendid rendition of the Roman statue of the Faun with Kid created in stone composite Mid 20th Century.

The sculpture depicts the satyr, half-man half animal. He has pointed ears, small horns and a tail to his rear. He bears a kid on his shoulders to take part in celebrations at a Dionysian festival.

The original sculpture was Hellenistic belonging to the school of Pergamum (160-150 B.C.) our piece is taken from a Roman copy which was discovered in an archeological excavation in Rome in 1675. The Roman marble piece is now housed in the Museo Nacional Del Prado.
