Huge Steam Locomotive Copper Kettle c.1860

Huge Steam Locomotive Copper Kettle c.1860

A huge copper Steam Locomotive kettle c.1860.

This beautifully bulbous bodied kettle would have been built into the very framework of the Steam Engine and heated as the engine ran, allowing for a constant supply of hot water (no doubt used for brewing the finest quality Yorkshire Tea!)

The kettle consists of: detachable lid, moveable swinging handle. The piece is completely hand riveted, with a deep rim around the main body which would have allowed it to sit into the framework of the locomotive to heat through.

A rare and unique object, heavily patinated over the years and in excellent order. Could be highly polished removing the verdigris and used in your own Steam Engine or very large kitchen.
