A superb original set of Cotswolds Staddle Stones c.1750

These wonderfully sculptural forms would once have held aloft a granary, hayrick or game larder building. They were designed to raise the building off the ground to protect their precious content from raiding vermin; assist drying the grain; and of course support some considerable weight.

This rare collection which have been together since the day the stone mason carved them in the Cotswolds, England.

Now these unique objects are treasured in their own right as sculptural works of art.
Being well over two centuries old, the surface patination of the pieces is beautiful and they are covered in incredible lichen flora.
