A Pair of Copper Foundry Crucibles

A Pair of Copper Foundry Crucibles

A pair of wonderfully patinated copper Foundry Crucibles from Northern England. Mid 20th Century. The crucibles were originally used for holding, heating and pouring molten metals.

Their highly textured ceramic surface is reminiscent of cooled lava stone, punctuated by a variegated coloured patination of natural earth ores. Glimmers of iridescent metal can be seen, as well as small areas of bright blue-green copper colour. The surface patination is individually and organically formed due to the substrate each crucible contained.

Every piece is completely unique - like a work of art. The vessels would make striking planters or simply sculptural decorative objects of interest in your interior.
